Seen A Darkness

This was the last song we had to film to complete all ten songs. At the end of the tour we still didn’t have a good take of every song nor did we feel like we did a great job representing the whole USA. This meant we had to fly to a couple locations. For this one, we flew to Phoenix and drove to Sedona. Once we got to Sedona we pulled onto a dirty road and drove for about an hour. The goal was to basically disappear or drive until we didn’t exist. I wanted to feel alone in the dessert because that’s what I envisioned when i wrote the song. I wanted to feel like I was in the “the valley of the shadow”. Once we got here i realized i forgot my guitar strap. So you see me struggling with the guitar. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic adventure full of red mountains, cacti, and a huge tarantula.

Who is this

We filmed this on a cloudy day in CO. The song is basically a contemplation of psalm 24 that was born from several spontanious live jams at the end of skeleton bones. If you look behind me you can see one of the rocks in a park known as “garden of the gods”. This specific rock is known as the “south gate”. I thought this was a cool visual for a song centered around the line “open up your gates before him”.
